xKore, you never cease to amaze bro

...and I'm not so familiar with you, Nechura, but if you're working with the likes of xKore, you're in good company! ;)

I'm not much into producing house music, but I definitely can tell you I know a good dance song when I hear it. And this ranks right up there bro! The mixing in this thing is phenomenal. As repetitive as the groove is, the song itself is extremely enjoyable to listen to. I can only imagine what this would sound like blasting through some nice JBLs or EVs! I think the only thing I really wasn't turn on to was the tone of the organ synth around 1:34; while this was an excellent addition chordwise to the song, the tone just seems a little too much like a sore thumb in my opinion. But other than that, the song is great. Thanks for the listen again, xKore. Nechura, keep it up! =D

P.S. Btw, I never thanked you for the advice, from what I understand. So, thanks for the advice! =) It's worked wonders for me so far.

Not a bad start my friend! =D

I really like where this is going. As of right now, it doesn't sound too robotic, but I know you'll end up doing this, so no further comment. Your entrance is very good; heighten this with some vocal samples of sort (I'd recommend your own...I think both you and I know why at the moment...Thx for your support in my argument, btw, it means a lot ;) ) Nice drop, by the way. Very heavy. The wobble bass needs some more character yet, but the rhythm of it seems fine. Perhaps add a little more res? Not sure. Do some experimentation, brotha! =) Good luck in the conest man! I'm lookin forward to where this one's goin! =)

The legend himself, Mr-Jazzman :D Thanks for the feedback dude! I'm already fucking around with the track to see if I can get the wobble sounding nicer and what not, should all work out nicely! :) Shame I couldn't keep the voices in there but ahh what can you do... Can't wait to hear your track! Should give me some more inspiration :D

Haha sounds more like epic Viking music to me! =D

You're right, this isn't hardstyle. And I'm right there with you, I hate hardstyle. It pisses me off when some 10-year-old child goes in and uses all the default FL sounds to make a song in like 5 seconds...and then somehow, that song gets uber super popular. But this song deserves to rise above all of that! It's very unique Gravey, I'll give you that...and you never ever seize to amaze people with great songs. However, there are some things that stick out to me. First is the guitar EQing; I dunno why, but it just doesn't turn me on. It just sounds too flat to me. Maybe that's because I'm a total August Burns Red fanatic and love the bright sound in their guitars (even their deep power C rhythm that plays on most of their songs), but I feel like the guitar coulda come out and been an even BIGGER player. Also, while the synths were cool later on in the song, they didn't seem to have a lot of flare to them either. I dunno if you were trying to make fun of hardstyle, or if you were legitly trying to make a cool sound at this point in time; either way, it didn't come to the forefront enough IMO as it should have. The other thing I wasn't too turned onto was the pausing, stuttering transitional effect that you used twice in the song, at about 1:10ish and at 1:24ish; I think a cool panning effect would have kept the element of the song that you wanted without causing too much abruptness in the transition to the next part. Now as for everything else, it really is quite good! The structure is awesome, the drumbeat properly puts hardstyle in its place, and the orchestral element to it gives it the epic feel that all of your songs deserve. Perhaps I'm being too critical of this song because it's basically just a parody, but then again I know you Gravey, and you're fantastic at writing really cool shit. While this is a very interesting song, I'm not entirely sure this is your best work lol. Still, I gotta give you props for transcending hardstyle...it really does sound like nu-hardstyle, like nu-metal and hardstyle combined, eh? =P

Now all you gotta do is transcend the dubstep genre, and we'll all be good! ;)

As always, your critical analysis of my music is noted and appreciated. I'll keep your opinion and ideas in mind moving forward onto new projects. :-)

Thanks.

Instantly one of my favorites lol

Beautiful man, just beautiful! Very very catchy! The bass is quite good, but just a little bit muffled; I'd recommend giving it a little more stereo separation. I'd also try some frequency modulation; it's done miracles to my bass sound, made it very screechy, rusty and nice! =) I also love how this is like a DnB/Dubstep combo; it obviously doesn't ride that 140 BPM tempo that most dubstep songs tend to ride. I also love the background sounds that you use, as they heighten everything, the intensity of the situation, etc. The only other thing I can say is that that drop, though awesome, could have been even HEAVIER, but hell, it's still awesome. Simply a brilliant track my friend! Keep this up, and you'll be one of the dubstep legends on NG! =)

Without a doubt

This is without a doubt the best robot day submission so far. AND it's dubsteppy, gotta love that! Just wanted to let you know I'm using your sentient package some; I LOVE the sounds in it, they're so perfect! This is also extremely dark, which I love hands down. You're gonna be some tough competition in this contest bro; you've produced somewhat of a masterpiece. Hopefully we'll be able to match you! ;)

Thanks for the nice review! I'll let you know when the full thing is up :)

Ironic, I'm the first to run into this ;)

This is probably the best song I've heard from you, straight up. Not gonna lie, it stays away from the generic sound almost completely, and it builds very nicely. A few things though: This isn't quite what I'd call DnB; the drums are too chaotic for it to be that, it's more on the order of general techno or perhaps even industrial. Also, I think you went a little wild with the kicking. The snare also doesn't stick out in the mix the way I would like to have heard it. But as for pure sound, the song itself is very catchy and awesome. It's probably your darkest song ever, eh? I would look into tryin to get some more robot sounds in there for sure though. It just doesn't feel roboty enough for the robot day contest. But, nonetheless, I liked it, both in sound and structure. You seem to have come quite a long way in sound since the NGADM my friend! =)

dj-Jo responds:

Thanks dude :D

This song was kinda experimental at first lol

and my sister thought I added to much bass-drum too
XD

anyway
I'll see if I can add some more robot like sounds through out the song

Thanks for the review man!

Helpful

Hey man, very glad you put this up here for us to use! I'm using this in my Robot Day project currently, although only as a background effect. It's a good general-purpose thing, adding just the right amount of sound in specific areas. Just as a side note, I doubled up the vocoding and the granulizing with it...strange, how great minds think alike, eh? ;)

Rig responds:

Haha, nice. Good luck!

Like a F@#$in chainsaw!

Very VERY interesting. As I'm tryin to make a legit metalstep tune, I found this extremely inspirational, quite good in straight up dirt. Reminds me quite a bit of a bass that I made lol. I feel like the bass maybe could have used a slight bit more character, or wideness; it felt a little dry, but it was nonetheless quite good. I'm also a little bit unsure of the transition you made in the middle of the song (2:20ish?); if you just kept it humming on that deep C, you woulda had something ridonkulous lol (well, maybe...I'm not you, after all lol). The ending is also kinda sloppy, as there's somewhat of an unnecessary break, and then back into the same bass that continued for the previous 2 and a half minutes. Overall though, the song was excellent. I especially loved how you combined the vocals with the distorted, guitar feedback-ish bass. It made my day. Thank you for this cutting, chainsaw song! Keep up the good work bro; I can see that NG is FINALLY starting to produce some dirtier bass! =)

true, the transition on 2:15 is a bit weird...sounds more like a mix of 2 songs
and i guess i will look into this one again ;)

Underrated masterpiece

I like this. A lot. It's very atmospheric, floaty, dreamy, all of the above, etc. The glitch drumming is superb, some of the best I've ever heard on the site (it reminded me of this song called "Synops" by Karnivool, off of their Themata album). The reverb too on those drums is something to bask in, as it just gives an awesome feel to the whole song. The mixing in this is also extremely good; nothing overpowers anything else, I can hear everything clearly. I think the only thing that I wish I had more of was a little bit more bass later on in the song, when the...what do you say...amen portion kicks in? if I'm wrong in that description, then the more typical DnB beat, where the snare comes in full-blown, around 2:20. The progression is nice, but I feel melodic expansion in at least one more area of the song would have made it all the more awesome. This is definitely a good track though bro, probably my favorite one by you. Inspirational, and as of writing this review, it is definitely an underrated song here on NG. Keep making stuff in this same vein man, you've got a knack for it! =)

P.S. I'm particularly curious on your glitch drum production, and I've always wanted to produce stuff like this, if only for a nice fill section in a song. If I PM'ed you, would you be willing to share info on how to make glitch drums?

SessileNomad responds:

of course i would share, feel free to ask whatever you need

lol, if i had a nickle for every time i heard i needed more bass, i would have a lot of nickles

its called the amen, named after that drum beat, the typical drumbeat that all dnb artusts use in like ever ysong ever, yeah...called the amen break lol

but yeah, feel free to contact me, glad you liked the track, thanks for reviewing

I agree, very Borgore indeed!

The drums are nice and heavy, and the drop has plenty of anticipation in it (albeit not QUITE as heavy as I love lol). The melody sounds extremely familiar to something I've heard lately and I can't put a finger on it. Kudos on the bass as well, it's very distorted and a la Borgore; in my opinion, it feels like there's just a tad too much "swirl" on it, but this is simply my own humble opinion. I also feel like there coulda been a little bit more goin on towards the end, but hell, it was a good track, who am I kidding lol! Keep it up man, it was good.

Reignee responds:

thanks for the review , about the bass i really just started out wanting to make that 'speech' bass, i kinda ended up like a borgore one with a hell lotta distortion as you say, can't complain really ^^
