Essentially, night and day.

This is actually pretty decent. The samples aren't overkill, the synth is pretty good, and it's enjoyable. For that, I congratulate you. =) I guess the next step would just be some layering, and your remix would be awesome. Nice song to redo too lol.

Frajola responds:

:D - Thanks

i like this one best

it is a little bit repetitive, but the sounds are crisp and nice. i like how you kicked it into the higher gear at the 1:30 mark. i can definitely tell you put some effort into this one. the main lead sounds a little strange with the bassline, but maybe cuz it's playing at the 4th interval, versus the 3rd or the 5th. it's good tho; i got down to it fo sho =)

Thank you!

not bad...although i seriously love Fallen more

lol if you absolutely need to know how this is goin, you should get some of Sony's extra bass headphones. it makes that shit go crazy, if you absolutely must know lol. yeah i know what you mean; i hate producing my stuff on a laptop too =P just can't quite get the same thing out of a desktop i suppose lol

If this is some of your oldest stuff, then wow!

This is a pretty awesome piece. It's quite lengthy, but that's not a prob; just more time to expand on your stuff eh? lol. when I think of this song, it's like a cross between music from donkey kong country and turok- at least, the original turok (i dunno if you ever played turok on the gameboy, but it sounded similar to that bit-grinding that you had goin on). I also like the pseudo-percussion that goes on during the whole course of the song. ultimately, this is a really chill song, one with a lot of layers; if i was making a flash game, or even possibly a movie, this song would be prime fodder lol. really excellent job; i wish i could have half as much pride in my oldest stuff. most of mine was riddled with FL Studio garbage, such that it didn't sound unique. i would still say my stuff sounds generic, and i wish to god i could make something as atmospheric as this.

midimachine responds:

Hey thanks man :)

If it's any consolation, by late 2005 I'd been using FL and making music for the best part of 3 years already. So while this is old, it's not my very oldest stuff. I would never harm NG with that junk ;)

Also, I was listening to my stuff that was even older than this (~2004) last night and I enjoyed solely for the fact that I could see how far I'd developed in my skills right across the board.

Anyway, thanks for the review and kind words :)
Keep rockin' on!

this is your best one so far

i'm glad you put something with hi-hats and a snare there. now try to make the hi-hats twice as fast and put the snares half a beat ahead of where you've got 'em (on the 1st and 3rd beats instead of the 2.5 and 4.5) and presto! instant dance magic. also, something i wanna see you try to do in your next song is have some percussion throughout the whole song, stay away from the explosion, and finally make a song that sounds TOTALLY different from the stuff you've put out here. right now it's just bare bones; it's time for you to produce an awesome jam. if you want help, i'll be more than happy to offer advice. gl to the future man =)

9/10 (needs more excitement, and that squeaky thing at the very end was strange)

you're getting better =)

this is like infinitely better than anything else you've put out here, and i congratulate you on that (the guy below me is a bum cuz he doesn't understand where you are right now lol). you still have much to learn my friend, but at least you're learning to use your own sounds and beats. just learn to stay away from super-generic sounds still, such as that explosion; you can dl a better-sounding one for free, or even create your own lol. i have another tip for you: Try adding some hi-hats in the background at 16th-note or 8th-note intervals, and replacing the clapping with a snare drum that's got some balls to it (to do that, lower its pitch slightly) good luck to the future man!

After 100 reviews...should we go ALL-THE-WAY?

alright, brother (yes to all of you who read this, R0tt3n-Appl3 and I are brothers, and i played the guitar and mastered the strings and he added the piano lick in the peril section and did the drumwork (thank god little bro; you've helped me so much in ways you don't even KNOW!!! lol)). what do you say we give this song another go? wanna remaster it for a better quality? now that we have the firebox and i know how to record a little better, let's give this song the final push!!! prepare, fans! the ultimate halo song is coming your way! =) watch for V3/Final Version VERY SOON! about time too; we only made this song 1.5 years ago, and i've always wanted to redo that guitar (man, did it always sound gritty-nasty! oh well, i guess you learn from stuff like that =P). Let's go ALL-THE-WAY!

absolutely beautiful

might i just say that the horn complimenting the acoustic guitarwork (which by the way was really REALLY friggin good) brought a tear to my eye. i thought at one point that it would be cool to here some hi-hats, but then i realized that would totally diminish from the subtlety and the quietness of the atmosphere and the serenity of the other percussive instruments, like the rainstick. awesome job broski!

haha noice!

This is pretty friggin sweet. I like how the horns are smooth as butter, and that guitar gets funky as the funkiest mcfunk. Those congas made me envision some back-alley funky jason bourne after he killed all the bad guys and needs some groove to walk/dance to (i dunno lol i'm just goin with the flow). Nice job!
